Oh sweet baby Thea! I am so so glad that I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful girl! She is the daughter to one of my very closest friends and she was born 2295km away from me. I knew there was no doubt I'd be coming to visit as soon as her mom (Tanya) gave me the green light - and thankfully I didn't have to wait too long either! I packed my bags and boarded a plane in the wee hours of the morning and was snuggling baby Thea by 9:00am on her fifth morning earth side! And let me tell you, there is no feeling more comfortable than having a brand new babe sound asleep on your chest! Thea's parents were clearly over the moon in love with her! I could tell as I listened to dad (Tommy) tell me all of the details of her arrival and how he was already getting to know all of her little newborn noises and quirks. Watching Tanya analyze her new daughter I couldn't help but be taken right back to the days when I regarded my own newborns with such an incredibly powerful, overwhelming and all consuming love that I thought I might burst. It was a beautiful thing to behold.
We spent the next three days visiting and just soaking up all that baby newness. And of course taking about a gazillion photos! It is a beautiful thing I get to witness every single time I photograph a newborn. These babes are brand new. Often, I am one of the first people other than family to meet these little ones. Often, when they come see me I am their first trip away from home. This is special to me. But the best part by far, is being able to see these new parents love on their babies! Their stories are always a treasure I get to take away from our sessions. I am fortunate for that. Baby Thea - you are so so loved!
